Obituary of Eli Faucett

Eli Faucett, a prominent and popular citizen of Richland Township, who lived about two miles south of the Richland Mills, passed away at his home Monday afternoon, about 1 o’clock, September 14, 1914, being sixty-four years, four months and six days old. His death was due to heart failure, from which he had been suffering for some time.

He was a son of James and Amelia Faucett, and there were nine children of the family, six girls and three sons. Mrs. Lizze Moulden and Mrs. Harriet Haywood went before him to the grave. The remaining brothers and sisters are: Mason Faucett, of Taylor Township; Abraham Faucett, of Albion, Ill.; Mrs. Liza Ann Haywood and Mrs. Emily Jane Haywood, of Bloomfield; Mrs. Martha Stone, of Howard, Kansas, and Mrs. Ida Timmons, of Bloomfield.

He was married to Tabitha J. Myers, June 3, 1869. Born to them were three children, but only one son, Alfred, of Taylor Township survives him. He is also survived by his wife, and a foster son, Jesse Stevens. Two sons went before him, one dying when ten years old and the other died in infancy. He was born in Taylor Township, and lived there till 1876, when he moved to this home where he died.

Mr. Faucett had been good, upright and exemplary since boyhood. From a child he and kept good company, which proved a strong factor in the making and sustaining of this beautiful character. When about seventeen years old he became a member of the Antioch Christian Church, in Taylor Township, and until the day of his home going he was an honor and credit to the congregation. He loved the house of God and brethren in Christ. He was a model husband, devoted father, loving brother, true friend and faithful Christian.

The funeral services were conducted from Antioch Christian Church, near his home, Wednesday at 11 a.m. by Elder J. A. Spencer, in the presence of many relatives and friends and his body was laid to rest in the church cemetery.

Our thanks are due and are heartily tendered to all those who so kindly aided and sympathized with us during the illness and death and burial of our dear husband and father, Eli Faucett.
