Mrs. Louvia Gainey, widely known and respected resident of this community, died suddenly Monday afternoon about 1:15 o’clock at her residence on North Seminary Street. Mrs. Gainey had suffered a heart attack a few weeks ago, but her condition was thought to be improving. She suffered the fatal attack while talking over the telephone to her daughter, Mrs. Clifford Fiscus.
She was born on July 1, 1887, at Hobbieville, and was the daughter of Augustin Lafayette and Maralva Pedigo Fitzpatrick. Mrs. Gainey was a 50 year member of the local Christian Church, and was always active in the affairs of the church, and the Keystone Class. She also held membership in the Mary Rebekah and Pythian Sisters lodges of Bloomfield, and the Home Craft home demonstration club.
Mrs. Gainey is survived by the husband, Thurman A. Gainey; three daughters, Mrs. Grace Loffland, of Indianapolis and Bloomfield; Miss Ruth Gainey, of Indianapolis, and Mary Fiscus, of Bloomfield; two sons, Willard Gainey, of Bloomfield rural route, and Ray Gainey of Indianapolis; three brothers, James Fitzpatrick, of Bloomfield; Joe Fitzpatrick, of Paoli, and Guy Pirzpatrick, of Ewardsport; one sister, Mrs. Grace Smith, of Bloomfield; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. A son, Richard, died in infancy.
Funeral services were conducted this morning at 10:30 o’clock at the Christian Church. The Rev. Eldon Haley, pastor of the church, officiated at the services, and burial was made in Grandview Cemetery, with Jenkins & Sons in charge of arrangements.
