Obituary of Sarah Ann Faucett

Mrs. Sarah Ann Faucett, beloved companion of Mason Faucett, was promoted to the life beyond at the family home, near Antioch Christian Church in Taylor Township, Nov. 5, 1914.

She was born in Taylor Township, January 1, 1849 and when she departed this life she was aged sixty-five years, ten months and four days.

She was a daughter of Charles and Jane Haywood. She had nine brothers and one sister, but only three abide in the flesh. They are Roland and Charles Haywood, of Mineral and Elias Haywood, of near Linton. She was married to Mason Faucett, December 25, 1866. They had five children born unto them, and four survive her. They are Mrs. Emma Frey, Mrs. Mary Catron, and Alvin Faucett, of Taylor Township, and Mrs. Etta Creighton, of Bloomfield. One Child died in infancy. There are five living grandchildren.

She was converted and joined the Antioch Christian Church when sixteen years old and ever lived to walk “worthily of the Lord” and to render beautiful and helpful service in the church and her community. Her faith, loyalty and sincerity were maintained until she was called home. Her church possessed in her a good supporter and attendant. The sick and sorrowing were often visited by her, and to them she tenderly and unselfishly administered. Her life was a true example of a true friendship. Her children called her blessed, because to them she was a most devoted and unselfish mother. She was never happier than when she knew they were doing well.

She and her loving husband grew old loving each other more and more, and filling nobly the position of husband and wife. She was fondly solicitous concerning his well being. Pleasant are the memories her loved ones have of her and they fell “she is not dead, but sleepeth,” and the hope of being reunited to her in the joys of eternal life comforts them in their sorrow.

Elder J. A. Spencer conducted the funeral from her late residence last Friday at 2 p.m. and her body was buried in Grandview Cemetery.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our friends and neighbors for their assistance and sympathy in our great bereavement.
