Thurman Gainey Taken By Death

Thurman A. Gainey, well known resident of North Seminary Street, died at 11:15 o’clock Sunday morning at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Louisville, Ky., after a lingering illness. He was 75 years old.

Mr. Gainey was born in Greene County on Sept. 2, 1888, and was the son of William R. and Jeannette Roberts Gainey. He was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church.

The deceased was employed for many years by the Harrah Manufacturing Company, and was last emplyed at NAD Crane before he retired because of ill health.

His wife, Mrs. Louvia Fitzpatrick Gainey, preceded him in death on Nov. 4, 1957. Surviving are two sons, Willard Gainey, of Bloomfield, and Ray Gainey, of Greenwood; three daughters, Mrs. Grace Loffland, and Miss Ruth Gainey, of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Mary Fiscus, of Bloomfield, and seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Norman Gainey, of Indianapolis, and three sisters, Mrs. Katie Scott, and Mrs. Nellie Ritter, of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Anna Moulden, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 o’clock Wednesday morning at the Jenkins Funeral Home. The Rev. John Campbell officiated at the service, and burial was made in Grandview Cemetery.
